New Moon

Well how could I POSSIBLY begin with this movie? Maybe with the plot. Bella Swan(Kirsten Stewart) is turning eighteen years old and her vampire boyfriend (Robert Pattinson) is leaving her because he wants to protect her.
Needless to say, this movie is like a severely over-actiony version of Romeo and Juliet, with vampires and werewolves(sorry, shapeshifters). The action? B-movie standard. Acting? Mindless and not really emotion-full. The creepy, supposedly "angst-filled" atmosphere is there, but it really doesn't help anyone.
If you want a good vampire movie, go see Let The Right One In. It may in a different language, but at least it's better.
I am generous. Especially since i'm giving this movie One out of Five Stars. It was at the very least laughable.

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid

I was truly excited to see this movie. I had seen the trailer and I had read all the books, including the original online version. As soon as it started, I began to jump and down in my seat silently.
I did NOT have a single problem with this movie. Even when it was slightly unfathful to the book, it still managed to pull out all of the familiar moments in the books.
The movie succeeds on an emotional level that the books never could. The actors in all their entirety pulled off all their characters beautifully. I don't really have a favorite.
The cinematography helps portray the characters with stunning realism, and the cartoon scenes animate the flat 2-D drawings from the book amazingly. Even the very existence of the actual diary helps tie the whole book together.
The way the characters interact with each other neatly portrays their personalities perfectly. The filmakers could not have created a better score for this movie. All of the songs help pull the viewer closer to the characters true emotions. The wardorbe represents the character's personalities with ridiculously good precision.
Overall an excellent coming of age story , Four out of Five stars.

How To Train Your Dragon

I am a very devoted reader of books in general. As a child, I had always held a kind of fascination with fantasy books. When I entered my movie phase, I became obsessed with book adaptations, especially faithful adaptations. So as you can imagine, I was excited as a kid on Christmas when I saw the trailer for this movie. Then I remebered that I had read the book before and I realized that the movie barely followed the book at all. I started hating the movie and everything that it represented. When it came out, I realized that it was foolish to hate a movie before seeing it.(I'm one to talk.)
I gave it a second chance and saw it... holycrapholycrap that was one of the best movies that I have ever seen. The animation is really the most intricately detailed animation that I have ever seen, with every little speck of dirt treated with the utmost importance. The voice acting by Gerard Butler, Jay Baruchel, America Fererra, and Jonah Hill does an excellentof portraying the characters in the most human way possible.
And don't get me started on the dragons. They are simply the most human-like dragons that I have ever seen. I applaud the animators on doing a fantastic job of making them look more human than the vikings at times.
The fight scenes actually had me fearing for the lives of the characters. Especially during the final fight scene. The flight scenes aboard dragons took my breath away especially the Aurora Borealis scene.
But my favorite scene takes place in the beginning of the film. After Hiccup brings down a Night Fury he attempts to kill it, but he finds that he does not have the will to end the dragons' life so he cuts it loose. Suddenly the Night Fury jumps on him and stares him down intensely. Hiccup later explains that he was unable to kill the dragon because it seemed just as scared as he had been. I think that the Night Fury didn't kill Hiccup because it saw reflection of himself in Hiccups eyes'. This scene strongly reminds me of the "Try To Be Me A Little!" scene from Let The Right One In.
I've noticed that a lot book adaptations have been trying to be the next Harry Potter, and I strongly believe that How To Train Your Dragon could very well be the animated equivalent of Harry Potter. I STRONGLY suggest that you see it, and in 3-D (Darn you, prescription eyeglasses!) Anyway, go see it I want them to turn this movie into a series!

Alice in Wonderland

When i first walked into Alice in Wonderland, I honestly was not expecting anything very big or flashy. I seriously misunderestimated it. While it is visually pleasing on a level similar to that of Avatar, Burton does a fantastic job of giving the characters a pleasing amount of depth. Carter and Depp do an excellent job as the Red Queen and The Mad Hatter. The overall pacing of the film keeps you interested. Don't be fooled by the slow beginning! Although it is a Disney film, it is much more intense than i thought it would be. The 3D actually does this film justice, enhancing the overall expierience. I give it a solid Five out of Five stars for good art direction, special effects, and acting.

First Review!

One of my favorite book series of all time is M.T. Andersons Thrilling Tales' . These books are hilarious and very self-referential, which makes them very fun to read. I have to go somewhere, so i should wrap it up now. Anyway very fun books, good humor, Five out of Five stars, very highly recommend it. The other books in this series are: The Clue of the Linouleum Lederhosen and Jasper Dash and the Flame Pits of Delaware.
